My favourite trend influences from the 90’s

It’s official, if you haven’t noticed that 90’s fashion has made a comeback then you’ve been on another planet! Below I’ve listed some of my personal 90’s style icons whose look are right back in trend right now.

1. Clueless

To me nothing says the 90’s more than my favorite chick flick ‘Clueless’. Seeing Alica Silverstone (AKA Cher Horawitz)  rocking her fluffy mini backpack, knee high socks and plaid skirts had my jaw dropping as a young girl and 20 years later I’m still envious. Perhaps my favorite mustard plaid two piece, the most iconic look from the 1995 film, isn’t everyones cup of tea but 90’s fashion is renowned for being somewhat loud and out there and this Clueless classic is a prime example of this.

2. Spice Girls

Being a 90’s child myself, I spent a lot of my childhood wanting to be baby spice and wishing I owned a pair of buffalos (i’m not surprised my parents wouldn’t let me own a pair after Emma Bunton broke her ankle wearing them!). The spice girls didn’t just represent the 90’s they invented their own signature 90’s style which took the world by storm.

3. Kate, Naomi and Cindy

The supermodel takeover in the 90’s was fierce and powerful. Now we have Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse, in the 90’s we had Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford, these women ruled the world of fashion and partied like rock stars! Rocking underwear as outerwear, plaid, fur and metallics on a regular basis these 90’s models represent the 90’s gloriously.

4. The Craft

I’m not going to deny that after watching the 1996 film ‘The Craft’ me and my friends went out to buy spell books, incense and candles to try levitation (I can’t say it was a success). Rumors are they are going to be remaking this film, I can’t see why they would want to take away the 90’s grunge charm the film already has! and remember ‘we are the weirdos mr’.

5. Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani in the 90’s is more on trend then Kanye Wests constant drama on Twitter! Pastel coloured hair, buns and bindis are HUGE this year (if you haven’t already noticed). For me, Gwen is the ultimate 90’s it child.

So whether you’re going for a plaid, cord or purple buns remember to wear it with your head high like these influential 90’s babes did.
