Tokyo World 2018

Tokyo World has quickly become a staple of the Bristol and UK festival scene, and never fails to close the
season with a bang. Taking place in mid-September for 2018; headliners such as Action Bronson, Sister
Sledge, Groove Armada, Mike Skinner and Lady Leshurr top the festival’s line-up which has already
made headlines just a few days after its release.

Once again the Tokyo World line-up is daringly eclectic with an added dimension this year of many more
live bands. These include names such as headliners Sister Sledge & Morcheeba, as well as Submotion
Orchestra, Dub Pistols, Dreadzone, Stereo MC’s and Bristol’s very own Laid Blak.
“We have always been supportive of the next generation of festival goers, and always will be,” said Soizic
Hagège, part of the event management team at Tokyo World. “And the significant inclusion of many live
bands this year on the new Live Stage is something we’re very much looking forward to.”
This is evident from the line up for this year’s event. Tokyo World has always been known as a festival on
the forefront of modern music, with a focus on contemporary artists pushing new sounds. And now, with
the expansion of the programming, the organisers are expecting an even wider audience and
demographic this year.

It goes without saying that the Mutiny Stage boasts a stellar line up Drum and Bass artists and this year’s
main headliner for the Mutiny Stage is yet to be revealed. What’s more, the Hedonism Stage, will for the
second year in a row host a cutting edge selection of House royalty, with: Erick Morillo, Maya Jane Coles,
Steve Lawler, Kerri Chandler and Danny Tenaglia as the main headliners over both days.
Fans of Hip Hop and Grime will not be disappointed either, as they’ll be able to enjoy sets by Ace Hood,
Lethal Bizzle, Little Simz, Nadia Rose, Not3s and Ms Banks – all featured on the festival’s iconic Vulkano

“We are working hard to be as inclusive as possible, and to integrate the full scope of both innovative and
timeless music, but also of music fans and festival goers,” Soizic explained. “We truly feel that diversity
and unity are what makes music festivals unique, and these are the values we strive to design our event

The event runs from midday to around 11pm on the 22nd and 23rd of September, but there are also
official after-parties for both days at Motion for those who want to keep on dancing. Acts are yet to be
announced for this year, but both after-parties will mainly feature Electronic and Urban music artists with a
splash of Drum and Bass.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, it is safe to assume that the Tokyo World organizers will continue
to explore all the ways in which Tokyo World’s values can come into play in music events and to keep
pushing the boundary of this ever growing Bristol grassroots festival.
“We want festival goers to be completely immersed in the Tokyo World ethos,” Soizic tells us. “All our
work is for people to have a memorable experience, and we are constantly thinking of new ways to bring
people together.

Boomtown 2018…Turn The Page To Chapter 10!

Let us begin…

Boomtown has always been on Wildthing’s to do list, every year we say we’re going to go but some how we’ve never made it! The amount of times we’ve been told, ” you would love Boom Town” and wandered what people meant, this year the Wild thing Girls are finally going to find out!  Who’s with us? Time to break out of our office in Bristol and head to the biggest growing city that is Boomtown…

The story

What sets the festival apart from the rest, is the festivals story… once upon a time in 2009 there was a man named Nicholas Boom, every year a district is born and the revolution takes over. From The Wild West to the Rave Yard the city grows deeper and deeper each year, Lions Den, Sector 6 and now the new Diss-order alley. You can’t but help naturally fall into character and become a citizen of the Boomtown.

Our adrenaline is pumping and brains whizzing at Wildthing headquarters as we caught up with the story and got accustomed with the districts. What new districts and town people are lurking around each corner, will we be chilling at Paradise Heights? Or getting wavey down Old Town?

Get into character

So what will be wearing you ask… Reload, What Characters! Will we be? A Seamstress for the can-can dancers from Wild West,  steam punk rockers from Diss-order Alley? Banghai rebels? At Wild Thing we don’t do things in half measures. Soon to come we will be posting another blog on which characters we have picked and trust me you don’t want to miss it, we are working with local Bristol designers and more to bring you style tips and full looks that you can bring to Boomtown this year.  For now, check out the characters that made up last years forever growing city …chapter 9 characters.

Watch out for our own styles over the festival weekend and come say hiiii, we are dying to see your crazy chapter 10 inspired looks…who knows there may be a little treat for our favourite outfit!! Start tagging your @boomtownofficial outfits purchased from @wildthing now to get the creative juices flowing!

Keep posted for the highly anticipated release of 2018 character themes followed by Wild Thing’s stlye blog (part 1), with so many more new districts this year we’re going to have so much fun creating!!

Boomtown…we will see you soon to turn the page to Chapter 10: THE MACHINE CANNOT BE STOPPED.

Love Saves the Day 2018

Love Saves the Day is a energetic festival based in Bristol, UK on the 26th – 27th of May.  This Festival is very special to wild thing, not only does it kick start festival season with a bang, it’s a festival we have seen grown throughout the years, being based in Bristol ourselves, it makes us proud to be from this eccentric, vibrant city.

For those of you have not been before, LSTD is a two day festival set in a beautiful park within Bristol city center which normally has one day for house/ techno and one for dub-step/ grime, however this year the days have been brilliantly mixed to bring different music genres throughout the day, so there is everything for everyone.  As you can see- the line up this year is incredible, from Fat Boy Slim bringing his classic tunes to Andy C Bringing the Bass to the fields.

Here is what the organisers say themselves:

From it’s humble beginnings as a one-day event we are now leafing open the seventh chapter of love that the eclectic weekend festival Love Saves the Day has expanded into.

Brand new stages in 2018 will be showcasing a diverse range of genres and music styles as Love Saves the Day continues with its aims to combine the best of Bristol’s thriving underground scene with pioneering artists across the globe in one buzzing, unified space.

With an emphasis on great music but a following from all of the creativity and live entertainment that occurs throughout the festival, expect the spectacular and we’ll see you in the field” – lstd

Bestival 2017- Why we’re super excited

This week in Wildthing HQ we’re getting super excited for Bestival, which is taking place on the 7th- 10th of September in it’s new location, Lulworth estate, Dorset. Not only are we so excited to see what new areas they have introduced to the festival, but we’re so ecstatic to see that this years theme isCOLOUR. I’ve been to Bestival before times and I’m really happy to see the return of some of the famous Bestival landmarks such as Love Bot and HMS Bestival, but what’s got me the most excited is the WORLDS LARGEST CONFETTI CANNON!

As soon as the theme was announced we started to get really inspired, pulling everything off the rails at our office and talking about what items would go great together. For me, the theme colour makes me think of loud block colours pulled together to create a bold and exciting, stand out piece. Mixed with lots of glitter and accessories of course.

Being the babes we are we’re here to help! We have selected THE best pieces from to suit the theme to save you time… and give you a little splash of our Wildthing style. We have also put a small video together to show some looks, so make sure you check it out!

Make sure you’re not left in the dark! (Yes, pun intended) and get some sassy colourful clothes and more importantly your Bestival ticket today!

Can’t wait to see you all there 🙂
